The Vision That Led Us to Aeroplanned
By Jen Liddle, CEO, Aeroplanned

The story behind why we built Aeroplanned.
Long before Aeroplanned existed, Jacquie and I spent years working across different parts of pilot training operations.
No matter which role we were in, we kept seeing the same thing: good people working hard, smart people making decisions, and entire departments all trying their best to achieve the same outcome. Yet somehow everyone still ended up firefighting.
The challenge wasn't a lack of effort. It was the difficulty of seeing how everything fit together. Decisions made in one area could have consequences elsewhere, and those impacts often weren't visible until much later.
We used to imagine what it would look like if the whole operation could work from the same picture — if people could understand the impact of decisions before they made them, see where things were heading, and adjust early enough to change the outcome.
We wanted long-term goals to flow naturally through every layer of planning and decision-making, rather than becoming disconnected from day-to-day reality.
That's the vision that led us to create Aeroplanned.
We also knew the bigger picture would only ever be as good as the detail underneath it. That's why much of Aeroplanned's journey so far has been spent building the foundations: the training structures, dependencies, timelines, resources, rules and planning logic that reflect the reality of how training organizations actually operate.
Bringing that foundation to life has taken a huge amount of work from our team, supported by incredible customers who have helped us test, refine and strengthen it along the way.
And now we're able to build on that foundation to bring more of the bigger picture into focus — connecting long-term goals, planning decisions and operational reality in ways we've imagined since day one.
Some big changes are coming over the next few months. More soon.
